Human Resources solutions

London, August 14, 2012 – Adecco, the world’s leading provider of Human Resources solutions and official recruitment services provider of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London, has recruited a truly diverse workforce of over 8,000 permanent and temporary employees for the Games, exceeding the high-profile and challenging diversity targets of LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games).

Adecco, the official recruitment services provider of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London, has successfully met the challenge of providing the people and talent needed to make London 2012 arguably the most memorable Olympic Games in decades.

To hire the 8,000 people, both permanent staff and people for the time of the Games, who had exactly the right skill set to play an integral part in one of the most complex projects that any city can undertake, Adecco processed 218,000 applications.

People for the widest range of positions were recruited: from stewards, medical personnel, clerical staff and head of flags, to lawyers, IT and finance specialists, the ‘Head of Badminton’ and board-level roles such as the Director of Paralympic Integration.

Adecco shared LOCOG’s vision of realising the most diverse and inclusive Games ever organised. To achieve this, Adecco developed unique recruitment software which tracks streams of diversity such as age, ethnicity, faith, gender, disability and sexual orientation.

Adecco also devised a number of programmes to assist with the process, including a guaranteed interview scheme for those with a disability and creating a talent pool of disabled people, not only for LOCOG but also for other sponsors and suppliers to London 2012.

The mission, however, does not end with the close of the Olympic Games. Besides staffing the Paralympic Games with a similarly wide range of profiles, Adecco focuses on the legacy created by the Games for associates and athletes alike by ensuring and improving their future employability.

Peter Searle, Regional Head of Adecco UK & Ireland, said: “Those involved in London 2012 will be in a strong position on the job market thanks to the experience gained through the Games. We’ll continue to work with LOCOG to place people in permanent jobs or by making our new recruiting tools available to employers beyond 2012. For British Olympic and Paralympic athletes looking to retire once the Games are over, we will be running a series of workshops here in the UK through the BOA Athlete Career Programme (ACP). Through the programme, we support these retiring athletes make a successful transition from professional sports to professional life.”

Adecco’s mission and engagement continues at the London 2012 Paralympic Games between August 29 and September 9, 2012. Over 4,200 athletes from 65 nations are expected to participate.
